Madame Tussauds is a famous waxworks museum. It is home to hundreds of effigies of various celebrities from world leaders to film and sports stars, and Marvel superheroes to Star Wars characters, all made with fiberglass bodies and wax heads. The museum was founded in 1835 by Marie Tussaud, whose original name was Marie Grosholtz. She was born in Strasbourg in 1761. 41 years earlier she had taken her exhibition on tour to the British Isles, leaving her husband behind. Many of the original models made by Marie Tussaud of her great contemporaries, including Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin, Horatio Nelson, and Sir Walter Scott, are still preserved. Originally established on Baker Street in the capital of Great Britain in 1884, the museum moved to its current site on Marylebone Road. In 1925, the popular attraction was devastated by fire, but three years later the restoration was completed with the addition of a cinema and restaurant. The attraction became so popular that branches of Madame Tussaud’s museum started to open all over the world.

The British Museum is a comprehensive national museum with particularly outstanding holdings in archaeology and ethnography in the capital of Great Britain. It was founded in 1753 and opened its doors in 1759. It was the first national museum to cover all fields of human knowledge. Visitors from all over the world could enjoy the museum. Established by an act of Parliament, the British Museum was originally based on several collections: those of Sir Hans Sloane, Robert Harley, and Sir Robert Cotton. Today, the British Museum has unique cultural artifacts such as: the Rosetta Stone, which provided the key to reading ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs; the Elgin Marbles (a collection of different types of marble architectural decoration); the bust of Pericles; and the statue of Demeter; as well as other Greek sculptures from the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus and from the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. There are also masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Albrecht Durer, Hans Holbein the Younger, Jean-Antoine Watteau, and many others.
