A. From August 1 to 4, 2024, VDNH celebrated its 85th anniversary. The theme of VDNH’s 2024 anniversary was ‘Inspiring Generations.’ Around one million people attended the celebrations, enjoying nearly 100 events, including shows, concerts, excursions, tournaments, and master classes. More than 32,500 guests took a ride on VDNH’s new attraction—the Air Tram cable car.
B. VDNH is open to visitors 24/7, and entrance to the territory is free of charge. Ticket prices for pavilions and exhibitions vary depending on the events held. The nearest metro station to the main entrance of the Exhibition Centre is VDNH on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya (orange) line. The walk from the metro station to the main entrance takes about five minutes.
C. VDNH, or the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, is a famous cultural and exhibition center in Moscow. Opened in 1939, it was designed to show the achievements of Soviet industry, agriculture, and science and to display technological progress. Today, it is a popular attraction where history, culture, and entertainment come together.
D. The Moskva pavilion was designed for the Soviet display at Expo 1967 in Montreal. It showcased Soviet industrial and space achievements and featured futuristic architectural elements. It was one of the most visited attractions at the Canadian exhibition. After the event, it was disassembled, transported back to Moscow and reassembled at VDNH, where it remains today.
E. When VDNH first opened in 1939, there were about 250 pavilions representing different Soviet republics, industries, and scientific fields. The construction of VDNH with its original pavilions lasted four years, from 1935 to 1939. However, further development continued in later years, with new pavilions, fountains, and monuments added.
F. VDNH is home to one of the world’s largest outdoor skating rinks, covering 20,000 m?. Open from late December to early March, it can accommodate over 4,500 skaters at a time. The rink is divided into different zones, including family-friendly and sports areas. With festive decorations and themed events, the VDNH skating rink remains a favorite attraction for both locals and tourists.
